Antony and Cleopatra (Classic Illustrated Edition) Details
* Beautifully illustrated with atmospheric paintings by renowned artists, Antony and Cleopatra is a tragedy based on Thomas North's translation of Plutarch's Lives and follows the relationship between Cleopatra and Mark Antony from the time of the Sicilian revolt to Cleopatra's suicide during the Final War of the Roman Republic. The major antagonist is Octavius Caesar, one of Antony's fellow triumviri of the Second Triumvirate and the future first emperor of the Roman Empire. The tragedy is set in Rome and Egypt, characterized by swift, panoramic shifts in geographical locations and in registers, alternating between sensual, imaginative Alexandria and the more pragmatic, austere Rome.* Just as accessible and enjoyable for today's readers as it would have been when first published, the play is one of the great works of English literature and continues to be widely read throughout the world.* This meticulous digital edition from Heritage Illustrated Publishing is a faithful reproduction of the original text and is enhanced with images of classic works of art carefully selected by our team of professional editors.
Reviews
This digital version of Anthony and Cleopatra SUCKS. It's not intelligently put together, the Acts bleed together so specific scenes are hard to find, for the love of god, DON'T BUY THIS VERSION. Get the Folger Shakespeare version. Yes, it's a physical book but it's brilliant. Someone needs to be smacked for creating this crappy version. And FYI, the pictures are nice put their placement is a little jacked.
